For a winter staycation in the UAE, the best areas are Abu Dhabi’s Saadiyat and Yas islands, Ras Al Khaimah’s Al Marjan Island, the mountain lodges of Hatta, Dubai’s own beachfront, and Fujairah’s east coast. Average hotel rates in the first half of 2026 were around AED 670 to AED 710 a night in Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Ras Al Khaimah, according to JLL data.

Those are averages across every type of hotel, and winter weekends usually cost more than the year-round figure. Here’s where to go, what the 2026 numbers say, and how to avoid overpaying. We haven’t listed specific deals, because rates change daily; use these figures as a benchmark when you compare.

Quick facts

  • Dubai average rate, Jan–Jun 2026: AED 701.10 a night (JLL)
  • Abu Dhabi average rate, Jan–Jun 2026: AED 668.30 a night (JLL)
  • Ras Al Khaimah average rate, Jan–Jun 2026: AED 705.60 a night (JLL)
  • Abu Dhabi in January 2026: AED 846.34 average; AED 1,277.59 on New Year’s Day (CoStar)
  • Dubai full-year 2026 forecast: AED 600 to AED 675 average (Cavendish Maxwell)
  • Cheapest season: summer; in June 2026 Dubai averaged AED 375.60

What does a UAE staycation cost in 2026?

The “average daily rate” is what hotels earned per occupied room, per night, across the market. It mixes five-star resorts with mid-range city hotels, so a beach resort will usually cost more and a business hotel less.

The seasonal gap is big. JLL put Dubai’s average at AED 701.10 for the first half of 2026 but just AED 375.60 in June. In Abu Dhabi, CoStar recorded an average of AED 846.34 in January 2026, against AED 486.80 in June according to JLL. Expect winter weekend rates nearer the top of the range.

2026 has also been an unusual year. Regional conflict and flight disruption cut international arrivals in the first half, and The National reported hotels turning to domestic guests with discounts, bundles and staycation packages. Consultancy Cavendish Maxwell expects demand to build from the fourth quarter as flights recover and the winter season kicks in.

1. Abu Dhabi: Saadiyat Island and Yas Island

Best for: beaches and culture (Saadiyat), theme parks and family weekends (Yas).

Saadiyat is the quieter choice, with long natural beaches and the Saadiyat Cultural District on the doorstep. Yas Island suits families who want theme parks, a waterpark and plenty of restaurants without getting in the car.

2026 price guide: Abu Dhabi averaged AED 668.30 a night in the first half of 2026 and had the UAE’s highest occupancy, at 66.8%, according to JLL. January’s average was AED 846.34, per CoStar.

Getting there: Etihad Rail now runs from Dubai’s Al Yalayis Station to Abu Dhabi in about 1 hour 4 minutes, with Comfort fares from AED 39 at launch. You’ll still need a taxi from the station to the islands.

2. Ras Al Khaimah: Al Marjan Island

Best for: all-inclusive beach resorts and a proper sense of getting away.

Al Marjan Island is a cluster of man-made islands lined with beach resorts, about an hour’s drive north of Dubai. Ras Al Khaimah welcomed more than 670,000 visitors in the first half of 2026, its best first half on record, according to the emirate’s tourism authority.

2026 price guide: JLL put Ras Al Khaimah’s first-half average at AED 705.60, up 5.2% on 2025, falling to AED 511.60 in June. Look out for the Wynn Al Marjan Island resort, which the tourism authority says is due in 2027.

3. Hatta: mountain lodges and glamping

Best for: couples and outdoorsy families who want cool evenings and hiking without leaving Dubai.

Hatta Resorts runs a range of stays around the dam and mountains, including Damani Lodges, caravans, domes and a campsite, alongside the JA Hatta Fort Hotel and Caravan Hatta by Our Habitas. Add kayaking at Hatta Dam and the trails, and it’s an easy two-night break.

2026 price guide: There’s no published average rate for Hatta, so check prices directly on Visit Hatta. Weekends in the cooler months book up first.

Getting there: About 90 minutes by car, or RTA’s H02 bus from Dubai Mall for AED 25 each way.

4. Dubai: Palm Jumeirah, JBR and Jumeirah

Best for: zero travel time, beach clubs and dinner reservations you can actually walk to.

A staycation on your own doorstep is still the easiest option. Palm Jumeirah has the big resorts, JBR is lively and walkable, and the Jumeirah coast offers older, established beach hotels.

2026 price guide: JLL put Dubai’s first-half average at AED 701.10, down 7% on 2025. Dubai’s Department of Economy and Tourism reported an average room rate of AED 470 for January to August 2026, a figure that includes hotel apartments. Cavendish Maxwell forecasts a full-year average of AED 600 to AED 675.

5. Fujairah: the east coast

Best for: snorkelling, mountain views and a slower pace.

The coast north of Fujairah city has beach resorts backed by the Hajar Mountains, with calm water for snorkelling. It feels like another country, two hours from Dubai.

2026 price guide: No 2026 average rate has been published for Fujairah, so compare resort prices directly.

Getting there: The new Etihad Rail service suits a weekend away perfectly. One train a day leaves Dubai at 1.57pm and the return leaves Fujairah at 11.54am, taking about 1 hour 10 minutes, with Comfort fares from AED 29. Check times on Etihad Rail before booking.

How to get the best staycation rate

1. Use the averages as your benchmark

If a mid-range hotel is asking well above the area’s average on an ordinary weekend, keep looking.

2. Avoid big event dates

Rates jump around holidays and major events. Abu Dhabi’s average hit AED 1,277.59 on New Year’s Day 2026, according to CoStar.

3. Compare direct and online

Check the hotel’s own website as well as booking sites, and ask whether a UAE-resident rate or a package with breakfast is available.

4. Read the small print

Check whether tourism fees, taxes and resort charges are included, and what the cancellation terms are.
